Home to the professional modern dance company, Kanopy Dance Company, Kanopy is in its 31th year of dance excellence. Open to children and adults, beginners through professionals, Kanopy offers classes in modern dance, choreography, repertory, ballet for modern, yoga, and improvisation.It fosters the technical, creative development, and group spirit of the young artist. School concerts feature the students’ own dances, plus dances created by the faculty, all performed by the students. The Kanopy Student Ensemble, made up from students of the upper level classes, has performed throughout Madison and Dane County. Members of the Ensemble have performed with the professional company, Kanopy Dance Company. All students are invited to perform in school concerts. Kanopy graduates have earned scholarships to the Martha Graham School, North Carolina School of the Arts, University of Minnesota, Bates College, and Swarthmore College among others.

A Classic returns! The rich sounds of Perfect Harmony Men's Chorus(sat performance); creations by NYC costume designer David Quinn.” ‘Once upon a Winter’s Eve,’ a
modern re-telling of that age old tale of a moment of enchantment -- the moment when a child first experiences wonderand possibility -- has become one of Madison's most

loved winter season traditions. And no wonder! A little girl, a
glittering snowy evening, and a gathering of fairies come together in a magical spectacle that celebrates the joys of the
season. Also on the program is the delightfully playful "Day in
the Life of a Who," set to original music by Madison composer,
Thomas Powell. The beautiful "Yggdrasil," the tree of life of old Norse Mythology, will be performed by Kiro Kopulos
with Kanopy dance company and student ensemble members. The premiere of a dramatic new work "Gardens of Light" by Kerry Parker, Choreographer and Principal Dancer of Kanopy’s company, and, songs from guests Perfect Harmony Men's Chorus, will warm our hearts even while winter’s dark chill sweeps over us.
