Home to the professional Kanopy Dance Company, Kanopy is in its 31st year. Classes are offered in modern, ballet, jazz, repertory, choreography & improvisation and open to age 3-adult, beginner through professional. School concerts feature the students’ own dances. Students perform throughout Dane County and some have performed with KDC. Graduates have earned scholarships to Martha Graham School, North Carolina School of the Arts, Univ.-Minnesota, Swarthmore College, Bates College, and others. Kanopy’s faculty has extensive professional dance careers in modern, post modern, performance art, ballet and jazz genres. See company for bios. SUMMER REGISTRATION  GOING ON NOW

Designed to teach modern dance through a progression of physical and creative skills, choreography, and improvisation; a strong foundation of discipline and play is encouraged simultaneously progressing into an understanding of technique, creativity, musicality, group spirit, self growth and artistry. Ballet and Jazz classes are offered at levels 3 and up to supplement training. Dance Camp (Beg/Int Ages 7-16) and Dance Intensive (Int/Adv Ages 10-adult) offer in depth training for dancers throughout the summer months. Adult classes are offered in modern,jazz and ballet; all levels. Children, youth and teens register either for the entire year, or per quarter. Adults may register for the entire year, per quarter, use a 10 class card, or drop in.

12pm: Creative Movement  and Levels 1-3

1pm: Level 4

3pm: Level 5/6 & adult

Arrive 1/2 hour prior to concert.

Quiet: Please be quiet in arrival & departure as classes are going on in multiple studios.

Shoes: Shoes must be removed upon entering; parents and caregivers must remove shoes as well.

Arriving and Departing: Parking- Gorham lot, Overture or MATC ramps

                                           Drop off- Henry or Gorham Streets

                                           Bus- Madison Metro- State Street

Severe Weather or Illness:  Parents are to use their best judgment in case of bad weather or illness. We will close when the Madison Schools close or have early release due to severe weather.

Attire: Leotard/footless tights; girls.Tee/shorts or dance pants; boys. Ballet & Jazz shoes as needed. Hair should be secured off of face. No large jewelry or loose clothing; fitted warmers only. For safety and instructional reasons.

Attendance and Missed Classes:  Students are encouraged to take additional classes at lower levels for development of skill and  artistry at an unlimited tuition rate. Make up classes may be taken within the quarter the absence occurs. Student may attend any class at their level or lower.
